What was the highlight of Villa La Grotta
Authentic beautiful countryside quiet getaway, nearby to town and a short ride to local activities.
Incredible remote getaway in beautiful Tuscany. Quiet holiday for true relaxation - renting a car or bike is a must, but just 15-minutes walk from the center of town and local restaurants. The best experience with staff who is caring, thoughtful, and goes above and beyond - made my solo holiday the most special, warm experience. Highly recommend for a getaway, and just a short bike ride to Il Borro and surrounding locale for activities and wine tours. Gorgeous calm pool, very spacious rooms, in an authentic and well-preserved villa.
To note: 30-minutes drive from the nearest train station and not may taxis available, so just need to plan accordingly - this should be obvious as it is a remote countryside getaway! Staff will help with anything you need, including taxis or e-bike rental.

What was the highlight of Villa La Grotta
Such a relaxing few days in a space that truly captures the expectations of a holiday in Tuscany.
The premises are beautiful and when the sun is shining it is so nice to sit outside at the pool. The bed and linen was also one of the most comfortable that I’ve ever slept on. The room was incredibly spacious with a huge living room and large master bedroom. The hosts were both so friendly, helpful and booked us such incredible restaurants for our dinners. I would strongly advise taking their recommendations for some of the gems within a 20min radius.

What was the highlight of Villa La Grotta
perfect place to forget about the whole world!
The family who run Villa La Grotta is incredibly hospitable and friendly! They make you feel as if you were at home The apartment was furnished in Tuscan style and beds were comfortable We had our rooms cleaned thoroughly every day. The swimming pool was also cleaned everyday and chairs by the pool were very comfortable. What is great is that in Villa you can order alcohol beverages or ice creams so that you can enjoy it by the pool! During breakfast you can order coffee (amazing cappuccino and espresso dipping!) Although the quality of the food which is served during breakfast is very good (delicious croissants and good quality regional hams ), rusks could be eliminated and instead of them there could be served fresh breads and rolls. That would enhance taste of ham and cheese-unfortunately rusks are rather too bland and dry. The area is calm and peaceful, there is parking where you can safely park your car. I hope we will come back!

What was the highlight of Villa La Grotta
Very Good
Nice location. Easy and relatively quick to get to Florence and back. The garden is even nicer than in pictures. The tables outside are great to have a breakfast or just stay late outside with a glass of wine. Great pool. Not too small, not too big. Kids loved it. Pool is not heated, so water a bit chilly, but since weather is warm in August - was not a problem. The hotel is run by a family, who also has a winery near by. It's they first year (they rented it from the owners), so still learning and trying to iron things out as they go. But what is obvious is that they really care and love their job, and trying their best to make you feel welcome and comfortable. sometimes it felt as if you'd be visiting your relatives in a countryside. The lady that was running the kitchen was especially warm and friendly - almost like a mother/grandmother. So a very nice holiday in Italy's countryside.
The managers of the hotel changed. They also changed some rules. So keep in mind - that all the previous reviews might not directly apply now. For example: when we booked it said that a good breakfast with meat, cheese, eggs, etc is included (and some reviews complimented it). We travel with 3 kids so a good breakfast is very important to us and was one of the reasons we picked this villa. But when we got up the first morning - we were told that only an Italian breakfast is included in the price (Croissant and coffee only). That's not what was advertised - we discussed this with the manager and found a resolution. But ideally I'd like to avoid such "surprises" or having to discuss them at all. Then there was no fridge (broken) in our room once we got there as - it got replaced only later. When we finally got the new fridge it was stocked with wine. We assumed it's for the inconvenience and it's free of charge. But it turned out it was not free. Not a big deal, but would appreciate more clarity on what's the price ahead of time. Overall - a nice stay, no major issues, just a number of smaller things that I think could have been more thought out for the price. But overall - the new management really cares and is trying hard to help you have a good holiday, fix the things that are broken or not polished enough, so they'll figure it out. Just a matter of time.
